Poor Jade Ellis! She gave a great final performance for the sing-off at the end of the fourth week of live shows, as judge Gary Barlow got the final decision – and voted the singer out of X Factor.
You could cut the tension with a knife during last night’s X Factor results show, as Gary Barlow decided that Jade would be the fourth finalist to leave the show.
He had fallen out with mentor Tulisa the night before – but it didn’t appear as though there was any connection, with Louis and Nicole both also choosing to send him home before Gary had the final say.
With Lucy Spraggan excused from performing this week, due to suffering the flu, the show kicked off in fine style as the nine finalists came together for a rousing rendition of David Guetta and Usher’s Without You.
The audience found themselves in for a treat as indie-rock chart-toppers Fun delivered a rousing performance of hit single We Are Young.
Then it was all about Robbie Williams, as he gave us an electrifying performance of his catchy new track Candy.
The Take That singer looked in his element as he strode on to the stage. Speaking to Dermot O’Leary after his performance, Robbie couldn’t help but mention Gary’s dislike of Rylan, saying: “It’s all love but he’s been a bit serious with Rylan. I love Rylan, show him some love Gaz!”
How cheeky! Robbie was mentoring the X Factor contestants this week and reportedly spent a lot of time with Rylan, even mentioning his love of the singer on his official website.
That led to Gary Barlow joking that the Take That stars had fallen out over the controversial contestant.
“Twenty years knowing each other, we did a single together, and it’s all over,” Gary joked after Robbie pledged his support to Rylan on his official website. “”In five letters, it’s all over.”
With all the performances over, it was time for the X Factor finalists to make their way back onto the stage to find out who was in the bottom two, and it wasn’t long before there were just two acts left on stage – Jade Ellis and Union J.
Union J chose Pink’s Perfect as their survival song while Jade Ellis opted for White Flag by Dido, and with Louis having already lost one of his Groups in the competition, he really voted for the band to stay in the competition.
Nicole followed in his footsteps and with Tulisa also voting for her act, Jade, it was down to Gary to make the final decision.
So what we he do? As it turned out, he opted to save Union J and added: “Guys I have been tough on you, I am a band member myself and every week you come on the show I am excited at what’s coming next for you.
“I can see the excitement and ambition in your eyes and there is somewhere to go for you.
“Jade, you sang your heart out there but I wonder if I want this for you more than you want it. The act I am sending home is Jade.”
The decision came after a tiff with Tulisa on Saturday night’s show where he accused the N-Dubz singer of having “fag ash breath”. The pair said they had kissed and made up – but perhaps his choice of who to send home means there might be some more tension between the pair…
With just nine acts left in the competition, who will be staying in the competition next week – and who will be the next to be going home?
Don’t miss X Factor on STV and ITV at 8.20pm next Saturday and at 8pm next Sunday to find out!
